As most of you know by now, a powerful 7.6 earthquake ripped through
Taiwan, followed by several aftershocks reaching even 6.+ in magnitude.
In the aftermath, thousands are dead, and more are still trapped. Lake
reservoirs are cracked and in danger of collapse. Most of my relatives
live in Taiwan. Thankfully, all my family members are okay, and we
suffered minimal property damage. I send this out as a plea to you. I
don't need your prayers, there are others who need yours.

Laura Lin, former Matthiews resident lives in Taiwan. Luckily, she
was on her senior trip and was out of harm.s way. But now much of the
island suffers from blackout or power rationing. I have not been able to
contact her specifically, but I received an e-mail from her next door
neighbor, and while things are bad, she is unharmed. Those of us who are
Taiwanese no doubtedly have family members who are unable to call out. I
ask you to keep her in your prayers. Whatever your deity, whatever your
religion, Taiwan needs our spiritual support. A few of us complained
about the effects of Hurricane / Tropical Storm Floyd (present company
especially), but There the need to boil water & shower less frequently
due to water contamination can not be compared to people dying & losing
their homes. Please pray. If you have no religion, keep them in your
thoughts at least.
