L: Snootch to the World, all
you little Nootchies out there! I We're
gonna start this one of with a
message from our special guest. Sign in,
dude!
K: Wazzahhhhh! This is Kevin
Lin, for those of you who remember me from
Harvard or somewhere else for some
reason...
Yup, well, I'm in Princeton and I must say the weather is mighty
nice
compared to New Orleans...
Okay, well, I'm out of things to say for
now so we'll just uh... say more
stuff.
L: ...Spoken like a true
scholar, my Drunken Brother. So anyway, you're
on your way to Yale. Whatchu
got going on in your mind about that?
K: Don't feel like
studying... at all. I guess it will be very much like
Harvard Summer Schoo...
except not in Cambridge and with more crime. Yup.
L: Ah, it'll all be good. I
know some people who are going there [Toni!],
So I'll hook you up with some
connections. Besides, how bad can a school
be that has rock climbing in the
basement of its dorms and that put
"Clerks" on as a play?
K: Wow, rock climbing.... I
should probably sleep some before I try that.
Yeah, well, I had this incident
with this guy who was bleeding chunks of
brain goo from his forehead ask me
for a light for his half smoking
cigarette and then he fell and then I had to
help him up and he wouldn't
let go of my fingers... first day at Yale. I
kinda took it as a bad omen
but... I'm still going there so oh
well...
L: So as you can tell, we're
totally pulling this out of our ass. Except
for the guy with the brain goo. I
don't know where that came from at all.
So, um, yeah... we should go do
something cool while you're here.
K: Yes, that'd be nice.
Followed by a nice long nap... perhaps we can go
see Godzilla 2000... or that
new Keanu Reeves movie... wait I saw that...
doh...
Uhh... wait I also saw
another movie the other day... I forgot what it
was now... let me think for a
minute..... wait "The Cell." That was one
painful movie to watch... yup... if
any of you have seen it... how about
those nipple rings huh?
L: ...I guess we'll just
leave it at that.
Feature Article: The
Final
Reunion
-----------------------------------------------
Sorry that this is hella late, peeps, but I had to pack up the
computer to
bring to college. That's right. In a surprise move, mother
dearest decided to
let me bring the Pentium III Flat screen beast to
Hopkins. And before that?
Well, There was about two really cool things
going on with me, and they took
up just about all my time. First off was
the drunken
Reunion.
So, Kevin AIM's me like a week and a half
before I have to leave,
and he's like "Dude, I'm coming up to Jersey!" This
put me in quite
conundrum, seeing as how I had to pack, and considering that
I was
slacking off tremendously, time was more valuable than ever. But
still,
the smart part of me said, "Dumb-Part-of-Lukas, You are dumb. You are
so
dumb, it takes all my energy to compensate for your dumbness." So
of
course this ended up with me just saying, "SWEET!" So Kevin came
to
visit, starting at Eleven PM on 08-28-2K. That's right. We _started_
at
11 at night. All cause Kevin's dad decided to take a "shortcut"
through
Washington DC. But ah well, at least we got some time together, ne?
So we
spent like an hour trying to convince Toni to come down and visit,
but
her mom was playing the strict parent role, thus negating any chance
of
Kevin and Toni meeting Pre-Yale. Then we played video games for a
while.
While I stood my own at Super Smash Brothers, Kevin tore it up in
Super
Bomberman. Then we talked until like five in the morning about
anything
and everything that came to mind.
And
that was the last anybody was of Pre-college Lukas. Well, Toni
came by to
return my comic books, but that was like a no time visit.

------------------
- Yeah, so I'm in
college now. My floor sucks. Granted, I'm in
Wolman, where we (luckily) have
air conditioning in our rooms, but
because it's a suite-system, it's not as
social or community bonding as,
say, the AMR dorms, which have no air
conditioning. SO I've been spending
more and more time in the dorms that are
not mine. Gee, it's kinda like
what happened at
Harvard...
- Don't get me wrong, the guys are nice
and all. They're just not my
kinda guys. They're all into football and sports
and stuff, which means I
watch a lot more sports on TV than I would choose
to. So I've been using
my AMR 2 connections. My friend, Farah, (she's a cute
little petite East
Indian) lives in said AMR, and from there I've gotten to
know a lot of
people and get a lot of benefits thus from. They have all the
N64 multi
player games you'd want, another kid as a DVD player, and he has
movie
nights every Thursday night.
- My roommate,
Mark, is from Maryland. He's pretty cool, but I can't
get him to try the
dancing game. He's also really tall, and a major in EE
(Electrical
Engineering). As it usually turns out, I hung around him most
of the time for
the first four or five days. Then like, Wednesday, Sept.
6, one of his
friends from Notre Dame came down (the college, folks, it's
pretty close to
here). I should have gotten along with her, her being
into anime and all, but
something about her personality just rubbed me
the wrong way. Maybe it was
the fact that she was adamant about the fact
that Bust-A-Groove was better
than Dance Dance Revolution. I'm sorry
people, I'm usually very open-minded.
But a game where you simulate
dancing can't beat a game in which you
_actually_ dance. Anyhow, since
then, I've just been hanging out more and
more at the Freshman Quad. But
he's pretty cool. I just have to get him to
hang out upquad...
- Speaking of dancing, I got
"Crazy Dancing" working on my computer
it seems yours truly forgot that I
already had a 3D card already
installed in my computer. So I've been playing
it, and I'm totally hooked
and psyched for when DDR comes out in the
U.S.
- Saw "American Pie" finally. Quite funny,
although I do admit that
it was majorly perverted. Kinda like the South Park
of sex. Yeah.
- Sept. 7, 2K: My first class of the
year was Physics for
Non-Physics majors. And it was at 10:30 AM. Which means
I didn't even
have to wake up until nine. And truthfully, the class wasn't
all that
bad. But there was a _lot_ of people. Like, I got there maybe ten
minutes
before class, plenty of time before it started. I mean, I never
would
have gotten to class even five minutes early in high school. Hell,
last
semester of Senior year I averaged five minutes late to every
class.
Wait, what was I talking about? oh yeah. So, ten minutes before
Physics,
I'm still trying to swallow the donuts I got on a rush to get to
the
lecture hall, and nearly every seat was taken. It was crazy. But thus
is
college life...
- I think I'm "doing work."
I'm not sure, but when I take a step
back and look at my actions, I suppose
I'm pseudo-courting two girls. But
I dunno, when I look at my feelings, they
don't run as deep as... well...
the other two times I've been in love. Well,
actually, I did dream about
one of them. But still, I woke up thinking "Why
was I dreaming about
here?" not "Maybe my dream means something..." It'd
probably be like "L"
deep, not "K" deep. Yeah, I'm pretty sure of it,
especially since I'm
still "C" deep in the second time. Wait, what was I
talking about?
- Time at college is really weird for
me. Me, I'm pretty good with
schedules. If I'm friend's with someone, I know
I'll see someone almost
every day. What about weekends, you ask? Well, it's
only a weekend, so I
know they'll be there on Monday. Not so at college.
There are people I
don't see for like five days. Which is bad. since at this
point, I don't
really have anybody that I consider a really good friend I can
trust to
be there to talk. So there are times when I'm all alone in my dorm,
just
doing nothing, and feeling lonely. But it might also be because I
still
can't get my internet connection working in my
room...
- Speaking of friends, who's cool here at
JHU? Well, there's Will,
this kid I keep thinking I've seen before, eve
though we haven't. He
lives in Building B, so I have to make a walk to see
him. And there's
Farah, and she's cool cause I can joke with her. There's
also Jennie,
this girl from my church from back home. It's cool to talk with
her,
because she's always so open and willing to express her feelings.
Or
maybe I just pry too much. How would I forget IO, kid from my
high
school? He's cool, and we hang out. Joe's this sophomore who lives in
our
suite. He just started Diablo II, but took the time out to reintroduce
us
to Unreal Tournament. So yes, we frag each other quite often. Seth
is
this guy from Texas on my floor, and he actually has really high
taste.
He won't watch "American Pie" on principle, doesn't have a hick
accent,
and is pretty laid back. Amit is also from my floor. He a nice guy,
so we
get along. And Grace, this really cute Hong Kong girl, but every time
I
think about it, I keep coming to the conclusion that either A) She's
out
of my league, B) She's already got her eye on someone else, or
C)
Somebody else is doing work on her right now (she's not one of the
two
Pseudo-Doing-Work girls). Which, as you all know, means I will
not
approach the subject until he is well out of the picture. I'd hate it
if
somebody screwed my relationship, so I won't do the same to someone
else.
Lead by example. Wait, what was I talking
about?
- Started my Hong Kong Crime Cinema class.
Hardcore. This class is
going to be the gem in my schedule. And thanks to the
tutelage of
Sulli-man, the three papers an two presentations don't seem like
they'll
be quite so daunting. First day of class, we screened "A
Better
Tomorrow," costarring Chow Yung Fat. And I was the only one taking
notes
during the movie. I've got this class down cold. And I'm going to
enjoy
it, too! Our textbook, "Planet Hong Kong," is the first textbook I
can
safely say I can't put down. It's filled with really
insightful
information, but still holds a unbiased view, all presented in
an
interesting manner.
- Watched the MTV Video
Music Awards. Here are my thoughts in the
order that I recall them
in:
1) Damn, but Tim
(from Rage Against the Machine) is a crazy
man. Did you see him up on that
display tower thing?
2) It is now official. Britney Spears has given up any right to
be considered
a respectable music performer. You thought she was using
her body to sell her
music before? Man, the "Crazy" music video was
1950's Do-Whop compared to the
shit she pulled. Her dress (excuse me, her
bra and hip-huggers) was like,
only see-through mesh covered in sequins.
"From the Mickey Mouse Club to the
Strip Club." The Wayans brother said
it
best.
3) That Eminem
is a man of the people, and I mean a _man_.
First, he starts his performance
outside the theaters, where the people
who aren't rich weasels are standing.
Then he stops his walk-in and
recites the infamous "Carson Daily and Fred
Durst" line right in front of
Christina Agulera. That takes
balls.
4) Hehe. I
never noticed how short Sisqo really
was.
8) Blink 182
singing "Small Things" with midgets dancing. Heh.

Why is my life so complicated?
THIS IS
COOL

- Chrono Cross
Are
you tired of disappointing sequels to video games? Are your
recent RPGs
lacking in luster in comparison to your old ones? Has it been
a long time
since you were blown away by a story's plot? Well brothers
and sisters, do I
have a game for you. This game is very much the reason
that I had to, if
you'll pardon the expression, pack all my packing
functions into the day
before I left. I kept trying to beat it (still
haven't). And yes, this game
will blow you away. The plot is richer than
the Final Fantasies, The battle
mechanics are second to none, and there
were several times that I just
dropped the controller and sputtered
explicatives in shock. This game is so
good, that I really want to play
it again. Even Final Fantasy 6, my previous
most favorite of the Square
Games, had a little "honeymoon" time of about a
month during which I felt
satisfied after finishing the game and never
considered replaying it
again. Chrono Cross has a honeymoon period of 0.05
seconds.

SAY WHAT?!
"Why can't I suck my own penis?"
"I would assume
because it's too small."

rape(?).
SPECIAL SECTION! SPECIAL
SECTION! SPECIAL SECTION! SPECIAL SECTION!
All of y'all have meant so
much to me, especially when I look back over
the past two summers, when I
revelled about our camaraderie or reminisced
over it. And I realized where I
was headed, by entering the hallowed
halls of higher education. So I give you
a special tribute. As Mary
Catherine Galliger might say, "My feels can be
best expressed by a
monologue of the song 'I'll get there,' written and
performed by the band
All...
Whatever happened to all my
plans
All the fun I was supposed to have
Where did I go wrong
It passed me by I let it
slip away
By working all the time
Burning out my mind
Wasting precious
time
It's still summer
somewhere
and I think I better go
there (Anywhere but here)
This could be the last time
for me to change my life
It's still summer somewhere and I really need to go
there
It's still summer somewhere and I'll get there
I let love walk out the
door
Cause I don't know how to have any fun
I pushed love out the
door
Cause I'm never at ease with anyone
No screen no phone no fax
Work
will wait till I get back
I'm gone so long
I'm
never coming back never going back
It's still summer
somewhere
and I think I better go
there (Anywhere but here)
This could be the last time for me to change my
life
It's still summer somewhere and I really need to go there
It's still
summer somewhere and I'll get there
It's gone for good not only
till next year
There will be no next year if I don't get out of
here
It's still summer
somewhere
and I think I better go
there (Anywhere but here)
This could be the last time for me to change my
life
It's still summer somewhere and I really need to go there
It's still
summer somewhere (Anywhere but here)
Still summer somewhere (Anywhere but
here)
It's still summer somewhere (Anywhere but here)
And I'll get
there
I miss you all terribly, and
though I cannot be with you in body, know
that my thoughts and wishes and
prayers are with you always.
