Feature Article: Enter the Dragon:

     Well, for all of you who haven't heard . . . HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
Yes, yes, as of Saturday, Feb 5, it is the year of the dragon! "Lukas,
you trollop," you might be saying, "of course we know it's Chinese New
Year! What makes it signifigant enough to make it a feature article?
Well, my church (being primarily Taiwanese) decided to have a
celebration. So they came up to me and said "Lukas, we need somebody to
coordinate the main event. Will you do it?" Being the nice guy I am, I
said "Sure, why not?"
     Now, this was maybe two weeks ago, and I figured that midterms would
be over and I could get a week to practice. Not so. Due to snow (which
actually were well-timed), The midterms were delayed by two days,
meaning one of my practice Sundays was sacrificed so that I culd study
for my final midterm that monday. What did this mean for me? Well, the
only time I would get to practice would be . . . THE SUNDAY OF
PERFORMANCE! TODAY!!! If there was ever a time I ever sweated buckets, it
would have been then (and I mean BUCKETS! not like those sissy plastic
pails, but the galvanized steel MAN buckets . . .).
     But it went off pretty well. We rehearsed, and when the time came,
we proudly marched in front of the elders, and performed . . .
     THE CHINESE DRAGON DANCE!
     Yep, that one where two or three get inside a dragon and hop around,
and I had to be the head, as I was the tallest. When all was said and
done, we did our dance, and a good time was had by all.

     - Midterms went over pretty well. I aced the Gym written (!), piece
of sweet sweet cake . . . ah, cake . . .
     - Definitely planning to attend Otakon, the biggest East Coast anime
convention. Go, I tell you! If you like anime, you'll love it! If you
don't, you be converted! If you hate it, you'll have targets to pick
from! [ www.otakon.com] Any Jersey People, if ya wanna coordinate for it
. . .
     - Word in my grapevine is that I may be taking a week off in May to
visit an Asian Country. Can you say reunion?
     - New ViewAskew T-shirt came in. This one is a take-off of the first
comic book cover with Batman, but this one featuring the heores, of the
stoner-series "Blunt-man and Chronic."

     Props go out to Della, for introducing me to Napster! This is now my
first choice when trying to find mp3s. Basic lowdown: Napster is a
networking-type software that puts everybody together under one download
roof. You can use the Search function to find who on the network has an
mp3 you're looking for, and then download it right off their computer!
The ingenious thing is that Napster istelf houses no mp3 files, so
"technically" they aren't distributing anything, it's all the people who
are doing it!
     And it's FREE in the freeist sense of the word!! That's right, no
credit card, no banner advertisements in the program, no junk mail, and
you can even enter a fake address during registration! But only tell like
people you really like, we don't want this getting too big. Already the
chat rooms read like an AOL conversation, where horny fuckers are trying
to pick up loose internet women.
     NOTE: if you have a 33.6 kps modem or lower, you'll be displayed
with a red dot next to your name, cuz of your low bandwidth. Solution?
Get a better modem and stop slowing the rest of us down, dammit!
